Masking tape

Masking tapes can be pasted in one touch, cut without using scissors and torn off completely. KURALON’s splendid feature is the secret that lies behind.

Description

What is a masking tape?

Masking tapes are used to provide temporary protection to areas while painting adjacent areas or to prevent adhesion of paints. Resin impregnated paper made from KURALONs are used as the base material for masking tapes. It is typically used for providing temporary protection, while painting automobiles and buildings.

Why is paper made from KURALON used?
Affinity with rubber , cement , and resin

The base material of masking tape is, in most cases, impregnated with resin to prevent vertical splitting, interlayer tearing, or permeation of paints. That’s why the feature of paper made from KURALON, “compatibility with resin”, comes into the scene.

Strong paper(Functions as a binder fiber)
As binder fiber and matrix fiber are both KURALON, they are compatible with each other, create a strong paper. Such "Strong paper" provides features given below when used in masking tapes.

Hardness
As paper made from KURALON has crispness and elasticity, it can be cut without using scissors.

Thinness
Paper made from KURALON are firm and can be made thin, even as thin as 20-30 g per 1 m2. Making use of this thinness, it can be pasted on uneven surfaces. This allows no paint to penetrate into the bonded surface, and the painting work can be finished beautifully.

Adhesion between layers
As KURALON binder and matrix fibers bonded to each other, the space between layers of paper made from KURALON is closely adhered, making it hard for interlayer splitting to occur. Therefore, it can be removed completely without leaving any trace.
