What are the differences in filters made from KURALON, polyester, and WRAMP?

There are various types of filters and even the same types of filters can be used in a variety of purposes, including purification systems, ventilation fans, automobiles and exhaust treatments in plants. KURALON, polyester, and WRAMP used in filters are applied according to their respective features.

Why is paper made from KURALON used?

Affinity with rubber, cement and resin.

Filters for automobiles and treatments inplants have pleats to enlarge their areas and improve their efficiency of filtration.By using KURALON, resin can penetrate into paper well because of KURALON's affinity with resin. The paper which absorbed resin is firm and easy to handle.

Strong paper（Functions as a binder fiber）

As paper made from KURALON is firm and easy to achieve hardness, it is suitable for filter base material that require high processability.

Why is polyester paper used?

Wet strength

For liquid filtration filters that require low moisture absorbency, the stability of polyester strength is essential.

Heat resistance

For filters where high temperature air and liquid pass through, the unchanging characteristics under high temperature is useful.

Acid resistance（Hard-to-dissolve in acid solution）

For applications that require disinfection by chlorine, acid resistance of polyester is useful.

Pore size free paper

Kuraray offers fibers in a variety of fineness ranging from 3 dtex to ultra fine 0.35 dtex. This wide range of size lineup makes it possible to make fine adjustment of filter mesh.

Why are papers using WRAMP suitable?

High density

WRAMP has a very fine and flat cross-section shape. These ultrafine and flat fibers of WRAMP interlock with each other in the papermaking process to create high density papers. The density is adjustable to each need by blending round cross-sectioned fibers into WRAMP in the papermaking process. That is the very reason why the use of WRAMP in papers is expected to grow in future, particularly for filter papers.
